SISTER by Sibling

You may remember my previous blog post on knitwear label 'Sibling', In which I unashamedly drooled over their amazing work, and this new venture has had a similar effect on my saliva levels.

During LFW 2011, Sibling debuted a new offshoot of the original collections, but this time with the female of the species in mind!

The collection is everything that can be expected from Sibling: Loud prints, bright colours and classic designs with a very modern twist. The theme running throughout the collection screams 'Seaside', 'Fairground' and 'tattoo'd carnies', along with the Sibling staple of leopard print! SO MUCH love for the LOVE/HATE jumpers...I don't even care if they're meant for the ladies.

Sibling have also collaborated with Topshop and will be releasing a line of exclusive knitwear for the Oxford Street branch and Selfridges...Here are a few pieces from the collection that will be available from mid November 2011!

SIBLING

Knitwear for men has always been a bit of a touchy subject with me, mainly because ive always found that jumpers and sweaters tend to be at polar ends of the spectrum: Either too boring, or too OTT.

However, It was by chance that whilst doing my daily fashion spying I came across a jumper that made me sit bolt upright in my chair: A voluminous skull shaped jumper that Is more than just a jumper, It's art. Here It Is so that you can understand where I'm coming from...

Unfortunately, that Is the only picture I've been able to find of It. but I't was enough for me to delve a little deeper into the brand...

AWE. Utter f'ing awe. 

Sibling create what can only be described as cutting-edge, exciting and revolutionary knitwear. Sibling is like a 21st Century Kaffe Fassett, working against the grain and creating knitwear unlike anyone else out their.

Their tongue-in-cheek re-working of iconic imagery into their knits, as well as a modern approach to overall design Is catapulting Sibling to the forefront of the knitwear game.

It's not only the impressive design of the pieces that blew me away, but the attention to detail and technological know-how that's implemented...For example, the knitted 'biker jacket', made of LAMINATED wool, giving the look of leather! Ingenious.

I never imagined that knitwear could be this edgy, yet Sibling have hit the nail on the head...

Here are my favourite pieces from every collection to date, I think they reflect the ethos of the brand best.  Fun, contemporary and stylish!

BERNHARD WILLHELM

German born designer Bernhard Willhelm has been at the top of his game for many years now, creating what are in my eyes some of the most exciting and free-thinking collections to hit the catwalks of recent years.

Willhelms bold approach to printing, coupled with his kaleidoscopic use of colour conjours images of futuristic neo-tribes...the OTT nature of his pieces shouldn't work all thrown together, but somehow, it always does.

For his AW11/12 collection, Willhelm has gone to an extreme with the use of colour, a brave progression from the muted pastels used in his SS11 collection...I love that he chose bright colours for winter, and muted shades for summer, its something you don't often see!

His latest collection will certainly get you noticed during the cold winter months, especially if you emulate the models in his ad campaign. Layering digital print dresses with clashing techno printed socks, along with huge knitted jumpers that look like they where made by your 90 year old blind grandmother (they look awkward, but still amazing!)

The style of the collection overall is very reminiscent of past Vivienne Westwood Gold and Red label collections, and its not surprising to learn that this is probably due to his internship with her. Despite his obvious inspiration, the collection is still typically Willhelm: Against the grain, forward thinking and very tongue in cheek.

Here are a few of my favourite looks from the AW11/12 collection...and I've got to say, I LOVE these shots! They're bursting with energy, and the whole thing looks like It was a blast to shoot...Another nice change to see: sullen models looking dressed wearing such amazing clothes gets very old very fast!
